01268 is the area code for Basildon and neighbouring parts of south Essex, including places such as Wickford, Rayleigh and Canvey Island. Basildon was one of the post-war new towns, and the area now has a mix of commercial, logistics and public sector employers. A call from an 01268 number might come from Basildon Council, Basildon University Hospital, a GP practice, a school or a local business. As geographic numbers are portable and can be used over VoIP anywhere, and because caller ID can be spoofed, treat an unexpected 01268 call with ordinary caution.
Who called me from 01268?
The prefix tells you where the line was originally registered (Basildon), but not who is behind it. Numbers can be ported between networks and caller ID can be spoofed, so a familiar code is no guarantee. Search the full number to see its current carrier, line type and whether other people have reported it.
