Malaysian phone number lookup (+60)

Who called you from +60? Look up any Malaysia mobile, landline or toll-free number to see the carrier, line type, region and spam reports — free and anonymous.

Unknown calls from Malaysia

Malaysians often treat unknown calls with caution because of the long-running ‘Macau scam’, in which callers impersonate police, bank officers, court staff or LHDN officials. Fake courier calls about parcels supposedly containing illegal items, and investment or part-time job offers, are also widely reported. Not every unfamiliar number is a threat: delivery riders, insurance agents, clinics and banks calling about genuine transactions all use ordinary 01 mobile numbers. Looking up a number before answering or calling back helps you judge whether it is likely to be legitimate, and lets you see reports from others who have received the same call.

Common phone scams in Malaysia

Macau scam (official impersonation)

A caller claims to be from a bank, court, police or LHDN and says your identity is linked to unpaid debts, money laundering or drug trafficking. You are then passed to a fake ‘officer’ who demands that you transfer money to a ‘safe’ account. Real authorities never ask you to move money over the phone.

Courier parcel scam

A recorded message or caller says a parcel in your name contains illegal items or has been held by customs, then transfers you to someone posing as police. The story ends with a demand for money or banking details to clear your name. Hang up and contact the courier or police through official numbers.

Investment and part-time job offers

Messages promise high returns from investments or easy money for online tasks. Victims may receive small early payouts before being asked to deposit larger sums that can’t be withdrawn. Check whether an investment firm is licensed with the Securities Commission before sending anything.

Report scam calls in Malaysia

Call the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) on 997 immediately if you have transferred money to a scammer. Report incidents to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and check suspicious phone numbers or bank accounts with the police Semak Mule service.

Stop unwanted calls

Malaysia has no national do-not-call register. The Personal Data Protection Act lets you ask a company to stop using your details for direct marketing, and operators offer some spam-blocking options.

Malaysia number lookup FAQ

How do I know if a Malaysian number is a mobile?+

Malaysian mobile numbers start with 01 — for example 012, 016, 019 or the eleven-digit 011 range. Landlines use area codes such as 03 for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor or 04 for Penang. Because of porting, the prefix doesn’t confirm the network.

Who called me from +60?+

+60 is Malaysia’s country code. Drop +60 and add a 0 to see the local format; +60 12 becomes 012, a mobile. If you weren’t expecting a call from Malaysia, avoid sharing personal or banking information with the caller.

What should I do if I sent money to a scammer in Malaysia?+

Call the National Scam Response Centre on 997 as quickly as possible, as early reporting gives the best chance of freezing the funds. Then contact your bank and make a police report. Keep screenshots, phone numbers and transaction references.
