01273 is the area code for Brighton and Hove and surrounding parts of East and West Sussex, including Lewes and Shoreham-by-Sea. Since 1 October 2014 the area code must be dialled even for local calls. Brighton has two universities, a large creative and digital sector and a busy tourism trade, so 01273 calls may come from Brighton and Hove City Council, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, GP surgeries, agencies, hotels or local tradespeople. Numbers can be ported or run through VoIP services anywhere, and caller ID can be faked, so check unexpected callers independently.
Who called me from 01273?
The prefix tells you where the line was originally registered (Brighton), but not who is behind it. Numbers can be ported between networks and caller ID can be spoofed, so a familiar code is no guarantee. Search the full number to see its current carrier, line type and whether other people have reported it.
