- Access charge set by your phone company plus a service charge of up to 13p per minute and/or 13p per call. Not included in inclusive minutes.
0872 numbers were added in 2007 to give more capacity in the 087 band, and like 0871 and 0873 they fall under premium-rate regulation. They are used by businesses that want to earn part of the call charge, for example for information lines, support services and call routing. Since 1 July 2015 the price of a call is your provider's access charge plus a service charge set by the organisation, capped at 13p per minute and/or 13p per call. The service charge should always be shown next to the number. 0872 numbers are much less common than 0870 or 0871 numbers, and the caller ID can be spoofed.
Be wary of callers from 0872 numbers offering prizes, refunds or claims and asking you to call back on a chargeable line.
Who called me from 0872?
The prefix tells you what kind of number it is (service number (087)), but not who is behind it. Numbers can be ported between networks and caller ID can be spoofed, so a familiar code is no guarantee. Search the full number to see its current carrier, line type and whether other people have reported it.
